Cottage Renovation - North Norfolk

Transforming Houses into Homes

This quaint little coastal cottage needed much attention while still respecting its age. Renovations included new heating, rewiring and plastering plus a new kitchen and bathroom. The design retained the beams and original features and used a fresh off-white colour throughout to create a feeling of space and flow. To create a seaside feel downstairs, laminate flooring that looked like reclaimed wood with blue tones was used, a nod to the cottage being on the coast.

To carry on the theme a shaker style kitchen with blue cabinetry was installed using a layout that maximised the available workspace and created significantly more storage. For the bathroom, the design kept the bathroom fittings white and victorian style sanitary ware was in keeping with the age of the cottage.  Tongue and groove panelling on the bath made the space look bigger and kept the nautical vibe.  Colour was added with towels in a nautical stripe and seaside accessories completed the look.

Furnishings throughout created a cosy and inviting atmosphere. A sofa with blue flecks and cushions in nautical tones plus local pictures created a coherent seaside feel throughout the cottage.
