About us
Hi, I’m Emma
I have had a passion for interior design since I was a teenager. My father is a decorator and our Victorian family home was always changing colour and evolving over the years.
A simple change in layout or paint colour can completely transform a space. Adding lighting then texture with fabrics, throws and cushions creates a cosy layered look.
Since having my own home, a new three-storey town house, I have loved transforming it. Adding character with panelling, paint and furnishings. I regularly restyle and change the look with the seasons, creating a homely and individual space. My friends often ask “is that new” as I am forever moving accessories about!
It is amazing how much you can accomplish even on a small budget. Much of my furniture, including my favourite dresser, was purchased second-hand and given a new lease of life by repainting to tie in with my chosen colour scheme. Creating a coherent feel is an essential part of all my designs. A home should flow seamlessly from one room to the next while still giving each room its own identity.
In 2019 I was so excited to have my home featured in 25 Beautiful Homes magazine. I was absolutely thrilled but also a little stressed with wanting it to all look perfect. My two cats Coco and Blue were banished to the garden for the photo shoot. God forbid they would jump on my newly washed bedsheets with muddy paws! It was a great experience and when my passion for interiors really started to grow as I realised my ability as a designer.
After enrolling on a design course with the British College of Interior Design I began Coco & Blue Interiors. As a designer, I love combining old and new. Old adding character and a more lived in feel while new can add a sense of freshness to create a contemporary feel. I would describe my style as timeless with a quirky edge. I adore neutral schemes, pared back, simple and natural but also love working with colour. My favourite style of house is without question Georgian as I love the symmetry and classical elements. Another favourite of mine is New England with its fresh coastal-inspired colours and nautical influences.
Working with clients to design a home they love and are proud of is why I love being a designer. I give as much passion to their home as I do to my own.
As well as my residential work, I've also worked on commercial projects that have created workspaces that are both functional and beautiful.
Take a look at my projects page to see some of my work, including pictures of the designs I have created together with before and after shots. Please enjoy looking through them and the rest of my website, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries.
